Thanks to MRCP.ORG

We would like to thank the great website MRCP.ORG for its continuous support by linking our publications , and for its kind and nice comment and words describing our last book "One Year of Hard Work". Without such support, definitely, we would not be able to continue our work.

680 Questions (BOFs and MCQs) in Neurology

"After One Year of Hard Work", what has been happening?

"After One Year of Hard Work", what has been happening?

The idea behind making this website goes back to early 2005. As we encourage free educational activities, and as we conduct many free courses per year to teach clinical neurology in our hospital, we thought that It is better to expand our work and target doctors by making a free website to deliver the neurology subject in a simple way. We invited Dr. O Amin to be the writer and the medical editor of the MRCP neurology questions.

After finishing the year 2006, Dr. Amin had written many wonderful mocks to update our website every now and then, and inspite of being too busy, he expanded the work to involve other specialties besides neurology; and these are (a total number of 1480 questions):
1- 8 Mocks for MRCP UK Part I (neurology).
2- 3 Mocks for MRCP Ireland Part I (neurology).
3- 3 Mocks for MRCP UK Part II with slides (neurology).
4- 720 Best of Fives for MRCP UK Part I (general medicine).
5- ECG book for MRCP UK Part II with Mocks (general medicine).

From April to Augest 2006, Dr. O Amin (who is now our Head of Team) had conducted 3 free Clinical Courses for MRCP Neurology, and we are thinking of "opening" such free courses at regular basis; we will advertise about them in the near future.

The year 2006 work is now gathered together and published here. We would like to thank all people who helped us make this work, and we welcome new writers.

We noticed that some of our best of five questions are being published at other websites without a prior permission from us; we don't mind as long as they are being used to teach others freely, but our website's and writer's name should be mentioned and credited (this is our copyright policy). Please feel free to download, print, and forward our PDFs to your colleagues.

Thank you for visiting our website.

Subarachnoid Hemorrhage...

As I'm interested in stroke, especially subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), I've read 3 articles in the new England journal of medicine; this topic is, unfortunately, full of pitfalls and many patients attending the ERs are being misdiagnosed as having migraine or tension-type headache. I would suggest reading these wonderful articles:
1- Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (Current Concept).
2- Avoiding Pitfalls in the Diagnosis of Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (Primary Care).
3- Intracranial Aneurysms (Review Article).

Your Development Resource!

Since 2 years, i've been visitng the MRCP website "Your Development Resource". I think it is a very useful website; and I think that it was the first website that offered FREE BOFs for MRCP ( about 250 in 2004, a number that is considered to be BIG at that time!). Now it has BOFs for part I and II (total no. is 314), and a book for PACES.
I'm sure this website will grow bigger and bigger, and will be of more and more benefit to the future MRCP candidates.
Best wishes to the owner and bof editor of that website.

The God Father of Neurology...R. D. Adams

Dr. Raymond Adams standing at a podium, in the midst of one of the many lectures he gave during his time at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Everyone interested in neurology must know those 2 genius people; they are Raymond D. Adams (right) and C. Miller Fisher (left).
Professor Adams is my inspirer, and his book (principles of neurology, with Victor) is my favorite book.
Thanks to this great man.

Reflecting a modern approach to neurology, Adams and Victor’s Principles of Neurology, 8/e new format highlights a more complete and accessible approaches to treatment and clinical management strategies. This thoroughly revised edition features more coverage of treatment and neuroimaging, renown signs and symptoms sections integrated throughout, and over 800 illustrations.

Adult Internal Medicine Self-Assessment, an Excellent Book!

After finishing reading this book for the second time, i think that the future MRCP and MRCPI candidates should read this excellent book. Nearly 1,000 case-based problems make review easy and enjoyable, whether you're studying for the board, recertifying , or just looking for a convenient way to make sure your patient-care skills stay sharp (this is mainly for the ABIM, but I think it is also suitable for any postgraduate clinical study including MRCP UK and MRCP Irleand diploma) .
  • Comprehensive. An extensive library of questions covers all of adult internal medicine, plus Psychiatry, Neurology, Dermatology, and more. And each question presents commonly encountered cases, diagnostic and therapeutic options, and in-depth reasoning and explanations on the recommended choices. Covers all the major areas of practice you need to review to score well on the exam.
  • Trustworthy. Questions are derived from the respected ACP Medicine CME program. For further reading, the problems are referenced to ACP Medicine, a continually updated, evidence-based reference of adult internal medicine. The cases are reviewed by experts in clinical practice from our editorial board at the nation's leading medical institutions.
  • Relevant. Case-based for greater relevance to daily practice—the format selected for many of the questions on recent exams. These self-assessment questions provide easy-to-understand, detailed explanations of the principles behind the answers—an ideal way to get ready for the boards or recertification.
  • Print or Electronic Formats. Our problem series can be ordered in traditional print or convenient new e-book formats.
You may see a PDF SAMPLE here.

Thanks to the ACP and MedScape.

MRCP UK PACES and MRCPI General Medical Clinical Examination!

We had received many Emails asking us to add a clinical examination section. Although we have many pics and video clips (mainly in neurology, featuring difficult cases) and we can make one, but we think that the weblog PACEMRCPUK is doing an excellent job and is trying to publish good clues and hints that are useful in the clinical examination every few days, and the quality of the contents can be trusted. So we recommend this weblog as an assistant to those who are preparing for PACES.

The Only Free Teaching Website For Neurology Regarding MRCP Examination!

No one ever said that medicine was going to be easy, but the thing is, there are very few parts of this enormus subject that are difficult to understand (like neurology for example). The problem for most of us is the sheer volume of information that must be absorbed before each round of exams. It is not fun when time is getting short and you relalize that you really should have done a bit more work by now;and there are large gaps in your "notes" that you meant to copy but never got round to .

Neurology and its allied ie neurogenetics, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology ..etc is a difficult subject , particularly when there has been a great development in neurosciences in the last decade and thousands of articles were written on various aspects of this field, to be competent in, is quite difficult; however understanding the basics of these topics will make it much easier.

We are a group of doctors who are trying to provide others with useful Neurology and Internal Medicine questions and resources; our work is free and dedicated to you; we are welcoming new writers; please notice that our website is free and we dont pay for submitting questions. Participate in this noble project and have your work published here so that all will get the benefit of sharing and spreading knowledge. Also you may visit our online journal and our forum.
